We offer onsite blood chemistry and complete counts, fecal egg counts (FEC), radiographs, microchips, therapeutic laser, chiropractic adjustments, nutritional consults, and much much more! Speak to us today if you would like to learn more about these services and how they can benefit your pet!

Companion Animal Surgery

At Gateway Vet Services, we perform many elective surgeries as well as non-elective or emergency surgeries. Elective surgeries include; spay, neuter, dental prophylaxis, as well as mass removal, etc. Declaws (onychectomy) as well as tail docking (amputation of the tail near the base) are forms of cosmetic or non-medical elective surgeries that are still performed but are being strongly discouraged if at all possible. Please read this article published by the Canadian Vet Journal for more information. These elective surgeries as well as ear cropping have been deemed inhumane and are illegal in many countries as well as parts of Canada. This is currently a hot topic of discussion in Saskatchewan as well.

Elective surgeries are performed in the morning on weekdays. These need to be booked in advance as there are precautionary measures and requirements for different types of surgeries. When you book an appointment for surgery, there is important information that we need to relay to you prior to you dropping off your pet and signing the consent forms. For this reason, we ask that you provide your email address so that we can send you this information for perusal at your convenience.

Most of our surgeries go home the same day. If there has been complications or we need to keep your pet overnight, this will be discussed with you at the time of booking or after surgery.
